Ylikiiminki in February, draped in stunning winter beauty, feels like a scene from a classic Finnish postcard. The crisp frost crackles outside, but inside Mammuttihirsi’s sturdy laminated log headquarters, the atmosphere is warm and inviting.

Ilpo Nylander’s journey as the helm of Mammuttihirsi is a story of persistent craftsmanship and passion. When he returned to the log home industry in 2020, his mission was clear: to elevate the brand to its rightful place—at the pinnacle of Finnish home manufacturing.

Digitalization is a cornerstone of modern prefabricated housing. Nylander approaches the topic with the same ambition and precision as he does Mammuttihirsi’s homes:

"If you can't do it with excellence, don't even start."

"For a rapidly growing company, it’s crucial to start development early enough." "If you let the business grow too long with poorly managed processes, change becomes incredibly difficult," Nylander continues.

Mammuttihirsi launched its development work based on Digileaper’s architecture models, focusing specifically on business and process architecture. Before any software discussions began, they conducted comprehensive modeling in Twin—their digital twin—to clarify and define these areas.

"This was absolutely essential and the only right way to do it," the director states. "Its importance has become even clearer as we’ve progressed in development. When processes are openly mapped across the entire organization, the benefits show later in seamless implementations."

Mammuttihirsi’s ERP system was selected after high-quality architectural planning, thorough preparation, and a streamlined tendering process. A key theme was lifecycle thinking—ERP investments should be approached with a 10-year perspective. For a growing SME like Mammuttihirsi, scalability is a necessity, as is cost-efficiency over the system’s lifecycle. From the outset, the solution was designed as a phased implementation, gradually evolving into a seamless value chain—from sales to delivery.

When asked what has changed since the system’s implementation, a smile spreads across Nylander’s face. "Things are happening that I don’t even know about—and that’s a good thing. Before, we relied on Excel spreadsheets and emails, reacting to issues as they arose. Today, processes run smoothly within the ERP, moving forward without needing a push."

"Now, we find answers in the system. Before, we had to ask for them."

"Digileaper has been a key partner throughout Mammuttihirsi’s journey, supporting the company every step of the way." Nylander gives the collaboration top marks.

"Digileaper has provided invaluable support in our digitalization efforts. At every stage of our projects and development initiatives, they’ve focused on what truly matters. We’ve progressed systematically and professionally, piece by piece. The path we’ve taken has been well-managed, leading to excellent results. Exceptional service. Without this level of expertise, we wouldn’t have come this far."

"We’ve moved forward systematically and professionally, one piece at a time."

The new Mammuttihirsi has thrived in a time when nothing has been ordinary. While the construction industry has lurched from crisis to crisis, Mammuttihirsi has grown stronger, undeterred by the storms—like a Finnish pine tree with deep roots. The company is on its way to the top of the home manufacturing industry, advancing toward its goals one step at a time.

Passion creates great things and enduring quality, no matter what the market conditions may be.
